Bad Taste

After perusing the Chicago Tribune this morning, I came across this article that made me wince. I don't know why I should be surprised at the gall this man has, but this latest bit from his campaign, shows what a complete lack of respect President Bush and his people have for the people of this country.

Using images from the tragedy of September 11th in your campaign ads is in poor taste, Mr. President! Where is your respect and concern about the victims' families? Where is your concern about a nation that has had to come to terms with that kind of devastation?

You should be ashamed to use images of such horror for your own political gain! It's a slap in the face to each and every victim — it's a slap in the face to each and every rescue volunteer, and frankly — it's a slap in the face to each and every American who looked to our nation's highest office for comfort and security during this crisis.

Your people say it's to show where the country has been in the past 3 years and it illustrates that you're a leader who can be depended on in crisis and danger. My response to that, Mr. President, — show us a picture of you standing amid the stockpile of Iraq's weapons — that's more definitive of your Presidency! Oh wait, you can't do that, can you?

I'm just glad that apparently you don't see the need to campaign in Illinois and won't be running your ads here on national television. I guess I'm fortunate that I won't have to witness your bad taste — at least for now.
